Janus Komaland head    (N°1323 )

Janus Komaland head. The features are labeled, often crudely. The mouth is split horizontally, eyes, nose, eyebrows, beards and mustaches are most often formed of ridges of earth. The head at the top is concave and perforated, allowing the proper cooking part. These heads appear to have been sculpted as such, without a body, recalling the statuary or Anyi Akan. They look like some sort of cap, driven into the ground in a circular pattern around the mounds, tombs themselves circular and covered with stones.
