Salampasu Statue    (N°1991 )

Exceptional act of ethnic Salampasu found south of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the border of Angola. One of the dances Salampasu is called "Matamba" which means hero's dance, he is a warrior who must show the head of the enemy and chanting the names of those he had killed. This dance goes on a stage flanked by 4 statues that were hidden after the ceremony. The curved front is characteristic of the style of carving Salampasu.
