The Igbo people live in the forest to the south-eastern Nigeria.
They combine both a deep sense of individualism and membership of a group. Their political system is involved and little known. The major social unit is the village, the expanded family is the little one. Each village has a high degree of autonomy and is placed under the senior chief 's authority. Igbo religion comprises on one hand the God Chuku, the creator, and on the other one the earth spirit Ala.
