Warriors and hunters, the Salampasu are found on the eastern Kasai River. The masks made up the main part of Salampasu art. There are very few figures and other ritual objects. These kind of masks are known among the Salampasu : each one is the symbol of three social classes : hunters, warriors, and the chief. The masks are displayed on initiation occasions and also during the gatherings of the different social classes.
