Among the Mangbetu since their earliest years, the skull of children were tightly squeezed by rafia ties. Later, young women knitted their hair on withies and put a headband on their forehead in order to realize this typical headdress which adds to the head extension. Even the king put his hair in a bun surmounted by a cylindrical headdress.
