Yorouba people are prolific artists, also known for their female statues showing an open mouth with teeth, the face covered in kaolin. The navel, invisible here, is protuberant and insists on the idea of lineage and ancestry. Yorouba art presents certain similarities with Ifé, bronze, stone or terracotta taking place of wood.
